BlackMail Series - Chapter Five

BLACKMAIL I True to Cathy’s thinking, Zach was standing at the window, watching the street and awaiting her return. Recalling what had happened earlier, he advised himself not to ask her any questions. But he was itching for answers! He watched her pay the fare, step out of the taxi, adjust her clothes, and walk nonchalantly into the house. He responded to her greeting coolly. She entered the bedroom without saying anything else. He left his post at the window and went to the kitchen to prepare a meal for both of them. She still did not say anything to him after he had finished and invited her to the meal. Cathy was comfortable with the silence as Zach could not push about the missing ring and who the other man was. She would have to tell him, eventually, but she was afraid of the result. If the boyfriend had not gone well, so much worse can happen with the husband. For now, she gloried in the silence, using it as a weapon and biding her time. Their new routine of silence

BlackMail Series - Chapter Four

CONFESSION II Cathy’s breath caught in her throat, lost for words. She looked at her husband, who was also looking at her, expecting an answer. When none came, he repeated, “Where is your wedding ring, Cathy?” She should say something, she thought. She just did not know what to say. She fumbled, “I… it… oh Zach, I have misplaced it!” she finally said, throwing her hands up. “Where did you misplace it?” Silly question, she thought, and it must have shown because Zach frowned. “Zach, if I knew where I misplaced it, I would have found it before you realized”, she said sarcastically and walked away from him. Zach was stupefied: this was the first time in their four-year marriage that Cathy had been downright rude to him. What happened to his lovely humble wife, he wondered, shaking his head. That little story of Dale or whoever he is being ‘just a friend’ was too lame for him to believe. He would find out who he was by all means. Maybe he should befriend those unfr

BlackMail Series - Chapter Three

THE OTHER MAN Zach immediately carried Cathy off the floor and onto the couch and turned the fan on. “I’ll get the alcohol,” the other man offered. Zach was too worried at that moment to have noted that the man was familiar with the house. When they had revived Cathy with the alcohol, the other man went to the kitchen and set about preparing a light meal of wheat porridge as Zach stayed with Cathy. He had still not registered the familiarity with which the other man was moving around in the house; his focus was on his pretty wife who was aghast and very, very pale. He ran his fingers lightly at her hairline, kissed her lips, her nose, her forehead ever so softly. Cathy had begun to cry silently again, and Zach was soothing her, unaware that the other man was standing at the kitchen door way, looking at them and wondering who he was. Cathy looked up and her eyes met those of the other man’s. That caught Zach’s attention and he turned around and signaled the other man to b

BlackMail Series - Chapter Two

CONFESSION Cathy woke up with a start. She checked the time displayed on her digital bedside clock. It was 4am. She sighed and quietly got out of bed and went to the bathroom. She had to take a quick shower because she was sweating profusely. She had just had a terrible dream in which Dale had come to the house threatening to kill her if she did not return to him. Zach her husband had then shot him dead and had pointed the gun at her. She was begging him when she suddenly woke up and realized it was a dream. Zach was still sleeping. She finished showering and returned to bed. After a while, she gave up on falling asleep. She got up and went to the kitchen, got a glass of milk and sat at the dining table to think while sipping. Where last had she put the wedding ring? She spilled the milk and nearly broke the glass when she heard the deep male voice mention her name. It was Zach. He had also woken up when she did not return to bed immediately. Finding that Cathy was shaking,

THE SURPRISE For some interesting reason, Cathy did not feel the least bit inclined to go anywhere that evening. She just wanted to be at home, watch movies, lie in her own bed, and yes, wake up at any time without any kind of pressure. So Cathy stayed at home and watched her series of movies. When she got tired of her movies, she decided to take a lazy stroll in the neighbourhood. As she strolled, she thought of her exciting lover, Dale. She longed for his presence with her that evening, holding her hand, smiling with her, and making passionate love to and with her at the end of the stroll… She sighed longingly. Dale. He made her forget her past. She was a better person when Dale was with her. Dale was like sunshine on a typically cloudy day. That was the greatest reason for which she could not stay away from him – he was her opium. But tonight, she just wanted to enjoy her own company in her lonely home. A tinge of sadness swept all over her. No, she was not going

STUDIO ONE PHOTOGRAPHY

Once upon a time, a good friend of mine organized a splendid birthday party for her tight circle of friends. Being an introvert, I was not too excited about attending but out of curiosity I found myself there. I noticed a gentleman with a digital camera, flashing all around the place. Three days after the party, I visited my friend. In the course of our conversation, I asked about the pictures from the party; I wanted to see what shots the photographer got of me. When she brought the pictures, I wished I hadn't asked her! The photos were the most terrible of its kind! All the persons in the photos were tilted left or right, the images were skewed toward left or right, there seemed to be no co-ordination at all in the photos, as if the  camera was wielded by a mere child. I then asked my friend who did that shoddy job n she told me; she added the huge amount she paid too. I was disappointed! Credit: Studio One The above could happen to any one of us. We want to keep photo

MOVING ON

Every two people who enter into a relationship have their expectations of the relationship. Some expect their relationship to continue into marriage. Some know that their relationship will not go farther than their beds. Whatever it is, an end is not perceived, especially if all is going well. Therefore, when a relationship has to end, the first impact is sudden before the acceptance come later. People who expected more from their relationship are those who suffer the most when it ends. Sometimes, it takes an end to make a person appreciate what they had or what they really need from a life partner. These are four suggestions concerning what to do after the heart has suffered a break. Do not hate. This will be very hard especially if you are on the receiving end of the breakup. You are likely to feel used and stupid because you did not see it coming. It’s all good. Let the feelings come and let those feelings pass. Hating your partner and/or yourself will not bring your partn

Secret Affairs

Relationships are something that everyone gets excited about. Being wanted, accepted, cherished and loved by another person is one of the basic needs of man and is captured under the hierarchy of needs by Abraham Marslow. It is the deepest desire of every person to feel belonging to and with another person other than their families. Therefore, people go to various lengths to find this special someone with whom their world would be complete. When they do, their joy is boundless! Naturally, when we meet someone special, we want to tell the whole world that the person is really special, and use the same platform to ward off anyone who might be eyeing our person. We are in a hurry to tell our families, friends, even our enemies that our lives are now complete with love. Sometimes, this does not happen, as the partners might not be in such a hurry to make the relationship public and might prefer to stay undercover for a while. There are several reasons for which people choose

TWISTED - CHAPTER 10

REPERCUSSIONS II Recap  REPERCUSSIONS I         Life was a curveball. There was no way to escape seeds that were sown years back. Jade believed the universe was paying him back for his wildness in the past. Life was unforgiving: she would wait until you became very comfortable before she served you with chilled karma.           Jade regretted running away from Delilah. He should have ended that relationship more maturely. If he had, she wouldn’t have returned to cause him grief. His calves began to ache. Only then did he realise he had walked from his house in pursuit of Bech. He stopped, sat on a short wall around a flower bed, and dropped his head between his thighs. What a mess.           When he raised his head, his eyes were glistening and his heart was thumping a little faster. The events of the past few hours kept replaying in horrible detail. What he should have done when Delilah walked into his house uninvited played out in 3D in his mind and he felt his heart tear a b

TWISTED - CHAPTER 9

REPERCUSSIONS I Recap  CHAPTER 8 Jade looked at Delilah, his tormentor. Indeed, not all women are to be messed with. Some of them are more venomous than the fierce snake. He had bitten more than he could chew. Why would she show up just when he had begun to put his life together? How had she even found him? His tracks were well covered. He shook his head. Indeed, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.           “Lyla, are you happy now? You have ruined me. Kill me now and let’s get it over and done with.” He approached her menacingly. That woman did not even cower. She stood her ground and faced him off.           “My dear Jade, love of my life, the game just got more interesting,” she drawled. She seemed to enjoy Jade’s torture. She stood right in front of him, her head a few inches from his chin. “She’s naïve, eh? I’ll begin with her. No woman will have you and know peace unless I am no longer breathing, Jade. You trained me well; I’ll give you a taste of your own medicine.”

TWISTED: CHAPTER 8

HEARTFELT HEARTBREAK Recap  CHAPTER 7 .           Love is tricky, Lily thought. One moment, it’s all breeze and bliss; the next moment brings anguish and agony. Lily didn’t know where to place her friend Bech on the love radar. Why was she crying right now? Surely, she didn’t love Jade, did she?           Lily sat with Bech in silence, the only sound being the whimpering from Bech. When she was calm enough to talk, Bech said, “Tell me everything. Leave out no detail.”           “I just found out he’s a swindler, Bech. He targets the daughters of rich people, makes them fall helplessly in love with him with the promise to marry them, then, after he has gathered enough from the woman, he skips town, never to be seen or heard of again.”           Bech’s shock was all over her face. She couldn’t believe what Lily had just told her. Jade was too smart to stoop… but how well did she know him? She got up, the cocoa beverage now completely neglected on the centre table. She paced in her smal
