STUDIO ONE PHOTOGRAPHY

Once upon a time, a good friend of mine organized a splendid birthday party for her tight circle of friends. Being an introvert, I was not too excited about attending but out of curiosity I found myself there. I noticed a gentleman with a digital camera, flashing all around the place. Three days after the party, I visited my friend. In the course of our conversation, I asked about the pictures from the party; I wanted to see what shots the photographer got of me. When she brought the pictures, I wished I hadn't asked her! The photos were the most terrible of its kind! All the persons in the photos were tilted left or right, the images were skewed toward left or right, there seemed to be no co-ordination at all in the photos, as if the  camera was wielded by a mere child. I then asked my friend who did that shoddy job n she told me; she added the huge amount she paid too. I was disappointed!

MUSING - WHAT HAPPENS AFTER WE DIE? (A PHYSICAL PERSPECTIVE)

What happens after a person dies? It is a mystery because no one who ever died gave a vivid account of the after-death. People who claimed to have seen God and the devil when they “resurrected” were said to have been hallucinating and were never dead in the first place. Those who were believed to have actually died never came back to tell any stories – Mohammed, Buddha, Theresa, even Jesus. The question still lingers: what is death like?      The living man is made of three components – the body, the soul, and the spirit. The body is what everyone sees, the matter which exists on the earth and moves about. The soul and the spirit, however, cannot be seen or touched. They are expressed through the body. The soul is the intellect, the will, and the emotions of a person. The spirit is the element that sustains the person (let’s not get spiritual).      When a man dies, his spirit is separated from the body. His soul dies with ...

A BED OF ROSES

AI-generated image      Marriage is often compared to a beautiful rose garden. Roses are undeniably stunning, but they also have thorns. Just like the roses, marriage is a beautiful thing, but it's not without its challenges. People are complex and ever-changing, so a perfect marriage is unrealistic. Before we get married, we tend to have romanticized expectations. We envision a life filled with endless happiness and unwavering love. While optimism is great, it's important to be realistic and address any red flags during courtship. Remember, "love is blind, but marriage is an eye-opener." Sadly, many marriages today face harsh realities. After the wedding bells fade, couples come face-to-face with who they truly married. Personalities unfold, and what once seemed perfect can become a source of irritation. There's no one-size-fits-all guide to marriage. Therapists can't predict every issue, social media is a highlight reel, and...

SHORT STORY: FOR WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN

David and Melissa sat facing each other that bright afternoon at Pizza Hut. If only their mood was as bright as the weather… if only Melissa had been bolder… if only David had been more encouraging… if only there were not so many “if only’s”. David sighed loudly and he got curious stares from the other customers at Pizza Hut. He did not care about anyone at that moment; he was more concerned about the loss of his lover to another man. At the thought of the other man (whoever he was), David’s brow creased in a frown which lasted merely a moment – he did not want Melissa to see how much he was affected by her news. “You didn’t want what I had to offer, Dave”, Melissa said quietly. “And I wanted more than you were willing to give.” “But you had me. What more was there to give you? I could have provided if you had just opened up to me! I wanted you...” “You didn’t. Well, not as I wanted to be wanted. You just wanted your flesh to be satisfied…” “Are you saying that y...
