Secret Affairs

Relationships are something that everyone gets excited about. Being wanted, accepted, cherished and loved by another person is one of the basic needs of man and is captured under the hierarchy of needs by Abraham Marslow. It is the deepest desire of every person to feel belonging to and with another person other than their families. Therefore, people go to various lengths to find this special someone with whom their world would be complete. When they do, their joy is boundless!

Naturally, when we meet someone special, we want to tell the whole world that the person is really special, and use the same platform to ward off anyone who might be eyeing our person. We are in a hurry to tell our families, friends, even our enemies that our lives are now complete with love. Sometimes, this does not happen, as the partners might not be in such a hurry to make the relationship public and might prefer to stay undercover for a while.

There are several reasons for which people choose to have secret affairs. We shall be looking at four of them in this article.

Right Decision
The couple might want to have a secret affair because they want to be sure that they have made the right decision in choosing their partner. This is so especially in the case of people who have had bitter relationship experiences in the past. In order not to raise expectations of families and friends and even self, the couple chooses to lie low until they are certain that the new relationship will be better than the previous.

Protection and Security
As a person, someone might hate your mere existence. As a couple, you are sure to attract a lot of hatred and envy from the singles. There might be people who will cause havoc to the new relationship should they hear of it. There are issues of exes spreading falsehood about their exes as soon as they heard that the latter had moved on. A couple might choose to keep their relationship secret till they are sure that all threats can be handled.

Players
There will always be a bad nut in the basket. Everything that can be used to produce good results can also be used negatively. There might be genuine reasons for wanting to keep a relationship secret but these unscrupulous ones do so because of their own nefarious activities. They may be having more than one partner at a time and for fear of being exposed and left alone, they have secret affairs so that one will not know the other and they can continue their wicked fun. Well, they are always caught in the end.

Fun
On a lighter note, it is said that fruit eaten in the dark is sweetest. There is a certain thrill associated with having secret affairs. A couple might find it exciting to hide their relationship from friends and families and be having their rendez-vous. It all forms part of the excitement in the relationship.

Having mentioned the above, let’s bear in mind that the thrill of keeping a secret wanes as time goes by. You may want to share your secret joy with someone else. Try not to keep a relationship secret for too long. It can corrode the trust between the couple. And if everyone already knows of your affair, no worries: keep the fire of your love burning. Cheers.

MUSING - WHAT HAPPENS AFTER WE DIE? (A PHYSICAL PERSPECTIVE)

What happens after a person dies? It is a mystery because no one who ever died gave a vivid account of the after-death. People who claimed to have seen God and the devil when they “resurrected” were said to have been hallucinating and were never dead in the first place. Those who were believed to have actually died never came back to tell any stories – Mohammed, Buddha, Theresa, even Jesus. The question still lingers: what is death like?      The living man is made of three components – the body, the soul, and the spirit. The body is what everyone sees, the matter which exists on the earth and moves about. The soul and the spirit, however, cannot be seen or touched. They are expressed through the body. The soul is the intellect, the will, and the emotions of a person. The spirit is the element that sustains the person (let’s not get spiritual).      When a man dies, his spirit is separated from the body. His soul dies with ...

A BED OF ROSES

AI-generated image      Marriage is often compared to a beautiful rose garden. Roses are undeniably stunning, but they also have thorns. Just like the roses, marriage is a beautiful thing, but it's not without its challenges. People are complex and ever-changing, so a perfect marriage is unrealistic. Before we get married, we tend to have romanticized expectations. We envision a life filled with endless happiness and unwavering love. While optimism is great, it's important to be realistic and address any red flags during courtship. Remember, "love is blind, but marriage is an eye-opener." Sadly, many marriages today face harsh realities. After the wedding bells fade, couples come face-to-face with who they truly married. Personalities unfold, and what once seemed perfect can become a source of irritation. There's no one-size-fits-all guide to marriage. Therapists can't predict every issue, social media is a highlight reel, and...
